DG CDA arrested over contempt charges

Islamabad: The Director General Planning Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu of Capital Development Authority (CDA) was arrested from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday over contempt of court Monday, Geo News reported.Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC heard the case against former chairman of the prime minister’s task force on CDA Faisal Sakhi Butt.

The court had summoned Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu in today’s hearing.At one point, the court reprimanded Sindhu over his staring and questioned him if he wanted to influence the case with his behaviour.Later, the court ordered for Sindhu’s arrest over his disgraceful attitude.Justice Siddiqui on Tuesday had reprimanded the Sindhu and Director Municipal Administration Mansoor Ali Khan for their meeting with former chief coordinator of the prime minister on Islamabad affairs Faisal Sakhi Butt and asked them not to play political games with the court.The IHC bench observed that despite restraining orders of the court, the two officials met Faisal Sakhi Butt assuring him of their support and they even did not issue a rebuttal of news published in newspapers.

The same IHC bench on May 14, while hearing a land allotment case of Fazal Hussain, had barred Faisal Sakhi Butt, the then chairman of the prime minister’s task force on CDA, from entering into the premises of the CDA. The IHC bench in the same decision had also directed officials of the CDA not to visit the residence of Faisal Sakhi Butt in their official capacity.
