The 23-year-old medical student from New Delhi was whisked to the hospital's intensive care unit this morning at 9.05am in critical condition.
"We have received numerous queries regarding the condition of the patient and also many offers to help," said the high commission in a statement on Thursday afternoon."We assure all concerned that the patient is receiving full medical attention and the family is also being provided all possible assistance by the High Commission.
"At this stage, we would request that the privacy of the patient, family members as also of the medical team in attendance is fully respected so that the treatment may continue smoothly.The victim was flown to Singapore from India for further medical treatment earlier at about 2am.
She was accompanied by her parents and a team of Indian doctors led by Dr Yatin Gupta, head of the critical care unit at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital, where she was under treatment.
The Indian Cabinet made the decision to fly her and her parents at government cost to Singapore based on the advice of a team of government and private doctors.
On Dec 16, the student, who has not been named so far, was raped by six men in a bus she and her male companion has boarded to go home after watching a movie in a mall.The six men, who have since been arrested, beat and gang raped the girl and then stripped her before throwing her and her male companion, who was also beaten, out of the bus.She had suffered severe multiple intestinal. abdominal and other injuries but managed to survive the after-effects of injuries so far but her condition continues to be critical.
