Ibrahim Hussain Zaki, former SAARC Secretary General and Special Envoy of former President Mohamed Nasheed, has said that the India’s External Ministry has given the last warning regarding the government’s termination of the contract given to a GMR-led consortium for managing and developing Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
Special Envoy of the former President Nasheed, Zaki made this remark in an interview to RaajjeTV. He said that if the Maldivian government does not consider the warning given by the External Ministry of India than India will take all measures against the Maldivian government. He said that this has been revealed by many of the Indian media in relation to the government’s termination of the GMR contract.

BML is the main pillar of the economy of Maldives
President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan has said that he will not politicize Bank of Maldives (BML). He said this at the ceremony held at Dharubaaruge convention center last night to mark the 30th anniversary of Bank of Maldives.
The President said: “The people save the money they earn from their hard work in the Bank with high hopes. However in the recent period some people took loans from the Bank and did not pay them back. And because of this the Bank is facing many difficulties.”
