Pakistan taking all possible steps to ensure education for girls: President

 

PARIS : President Asif Ali Zardari Monday said Pakistan had taken all possible steps to ensure education for girls and providing equal rights to all for education, equal opportunities for jobs and other facilities.In his remarks to the press along with Director General UNESCO Irina Bokova, President Zardari said Pakistan was passing through transit phase to democracy and elections were due next year.He said the present government had been taking all possible steps for the progress and prosperity of the country including provision of equal rights to girls education, equal rights for jobs.

The President said, “We have done all possible for women in Pakistan”. The government ensured gender equality and equal rights in jobs which was dream of Benazir Bhutto, he added.

He thanked UNESCO and international community on his behalf, on behalf of people of Pakistan and especially the women for organizing this important event in the name of Malala, who was a symbol of hope for the girls of Pakistan.





Director General UNESCO Irina Bokova while giving her remarks on this occasion said it was the basic right of the women to have right to education.
