Senior officials reaffirm peaceful development of Sino-Indian ties

Senior officials from China and India met for the first time after Beijing's once in a decade leadership transition in November, as both sides assured each other that the countries will maintain peaceful and stable relations.

Experts said the Asian powers have narrowed their differences over boundary issues and become each other's diplomatic priority after decades of negotiations prevented disputes from escalating.

China's top legislator said Beijing would maintain its strategies to consolidate ties with India, and welcome the South Asian country's stability and prosperity amid the lingering territorial disputes.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks during a meeting with Indian National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon, who was in Beijing to co-chair dialogues on special border issues with State Councilor Dai Bingguo.

China-Russia co-op has huge potential

MOSCOW - The China-Russia strategic partnership has advanced recently and should reach new heights in the future, Russian experts say.

This year, Russia and China witnessed intensive bilateral political communication and multi-layer cooperation, said Sergei Sanakoyev, head of the Russia-China Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited China in June, during which leaders of the two countries laid out the blueprint for bilateral relations for the next decade.

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Russia in spring elevated bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

China, Kyrgyzstan agree to strengthen cooperation

BISHKEK - Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev met on Tuesday and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Wen conveyed to Atambayev the greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping.

The diplomatic ties between China and Kyrgyzstan in the past 20 years have demonstrated that the bilateral relationship is built on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, accords with the fundamental interests of both countries and enjoys a promising future, Wen said.

"China appreciates and supports Kyrgyzstan's firm stand on safeguarding national security and stability and its efforts in developing the economy and improving people's living standards," he added.
