ISLAMABAD : At least four people were killed and about a dozen injured when a train was attacked by unknown militants in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Saturday night, reported local media Samaa.
The attack took place at about 8:00 p.m. local time when some unknown gunmen opened fired at a passenger train near Mach, a small town lying some 50 kilometers southeast of Quetta, capital of Balochistan province, according to the reports.
The passenger train named Jaffar Express was heading towards Quetta from Rawalpindi, a city in east Pakistan's Punjab province, when it got attacked, said local media.
Assistant Commissioner of Mach confirmed the attack and said that the engine of the train was also damaged in the attack.
Four members of Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force in the country, were killed in the attack, according to the local media.
The attackers fled the scene after the security forces fought back, said a local Urdu TV channel ARY.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
