After terming the killing of two its soldiers at the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistani troops 'provocative', the External Affairs Minister, Salman Khurshid, summoned the Pakistan envoy and said that protest will be lodged with Pak for its brutal action.
"We will take this up very firmly with the Pakistan government ," External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said.
The Director General of Military Operations of both the countries will also meet on Wednesday where India is expected to issue strong warning to Pakistan.
He said the killing and mutilation of the Indian soldiers was "an extremely sensitive matter" and "a matter of great concern to everyone".
"These are matters on which every dimension has to be examined very carefully before we say what we propose to do," he added.
The Pakistani soldiers, said to be from the Baloch regiment, sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday under the cover of a thick fog and killed two Indian soldiers and wounded a third.
Army's Additional Director General (Public Information) Major General S L Narasimhan said Northern Army Commander Lt Gen K T Parnaik visited the scene of action and confirmed that one of the two bodies was mutilated.
Other sources said the heads of both the Indian soldiers -- Lance Naiks, Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh -- have been chopped off and one was taken away by Pakistani intruders.
This was a chilling reminder of the brutal attack on Capt Saurabh Kalia and his team by Pakistani troops in Kaksar sector of Kargil during the 1999 conflict.
Tuesdayâ??s attack took place along the Line of Control in Poonch district when Pakistanis came about 100 metres into Indian territory and assaulted the patrol party.
Besides killing two, they also injured two other soldiers and took away their weapons and other belongings.
In Islamabad, Military spokesman denied India's allegation of provocative action in Poonch sector by Pakistani troops.
