KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim’s laptop has been stolen from the Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP) office in Karachi. According to a report, important data was stored on the CEC’s personal laptop.
Sources said that important documents had also been stolen from the office during the break-in. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justice (r) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso took serious notice of the reported ‘disappearance’ of a laptop from the office of the CEC. The prime minister also sought a report from the authorities concerned over the incident. He also directed the Interior Ministry and the provincial governments to beef up security and provide adequate protection to the ECP officials. The prime minister expressed concern over the attack on the office of the ECP in Kalat and asked the Balochistan government to submit a comprehensive report in this regard.
