According to the map, the tunnel digging job begins exactly from Wadi Helwa main street (near the southern wall of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque) for construction of an underground tunnel allocated to pedestrian settlers and tourists only to link colonial settlements in David city and Wadi Helwa neighborhood near Ja'fati station.
The Islamic-Christian Organization for Supporting Al-Quds and the Holy Shrines cautioned against Israeli occupation authorities planned digging of an underground tunnel. The organization pointed out in its statement, that the new tunnel serves only Israeli settlers and tourists and harasses the inhabitants of Salwan district in general because it blocks the street and compels them to use a distant diversion, citing Israeli occupation plans aimed to destroy Islamic history and ancient landmarks in occupied Jerusalem, denouncing endless Israeli crimes in the holy city and Israeli attempts to erase its Islamic history.
