A massive search operation has been launched inside a dense forest area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district where a counter-insurgency operation began on Saturday and continued for more than 60 hours.

Two militants, believed to be from Pakistan, have been killed and their bodies recovered.
A police officer said the body of a militant, who was killed on Sunday, was recovered on Monday morning, taking the toll of militant casualties to two.
The officer said a massive search operation had been going on today in the Chattergul forest area, where the militants had built a cave hideout and where the fighting lasted for two days.
He said no contact was established with the militant since yesterday evening when one more militant was killed.
“We have found four boots at the hideout, which suggest the possibility of more militants in the area,” the officer said.
