At least 30 killed, 110 wounded in Iraq serial blasts


In Iraq, 30 people were killed and 110 others were wounded in serial blasts by Islamist militants in southern cities of Hillah and Karbala. Shiite neighborhoods and security personnel were the main targets The deadliest attack was in the southern city of Hillah where road side bomb blast was followed by a car bomb explosion when people rushed to the site on hearing the loude explosions. 24 people were killed on the spot while 90 others were injured.

Many of the injured are in critical condition and the toll may go up .The other explosion took place at the gate of th holy city of Karbala in which six people were killed and 20 others were wounded. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks but the security agencies said that the timing and the manner in which these attacks were carried, bore the stamp of Al Qaeda militants.
