Infiltration attempt foiled in Samba Sector

An infiltration attempt from Pakistan was reportedly foiled by Indian troops at Ramnagar in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning. It was said that a gunbattle between the Indian Army and Pakistani Rangers continued for nearly 30 minutes.

The Indian troops started firing after noticing suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC). The Pakistani troops were providing cover fire for the infiltrators to help their attempt of intrusion into the Indian territory, reports said. Pakistan has been accused of carrying out a number of ceasefire violations in the last one year and even beheaded a couple of Indian soldiers near the LoC in January this year, leading to a major diplomatic row between the two neighbours.
