Pak national arrested in Nepal with 1 cr fake Indian currency

A Pakistani national has been arrested here for allegedly carrying fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 1 crore, in one of the biggest seizures recently.

Sheikh Muhammad Fukran, 48, was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday, with fake Indian currency carrying a face value of around Rs 1 crore as soon as he landed here through the Qatar Airlines, according to Nepal Police spokesman Keshav Adhikari.

This is one of the biggest seizures of fake Indian bank notes in Nepal in the recent period.

One of his Nepali accomplices Nurullah Miya, residing in the outskirt of Kathmandu, has also been arrested.

The Pakistani national coming from Doha had concealed the fake bank notes in false bottom of the luggage he was carrying, police said.

The duo have been taken into custody and an investigation is on.

Earlier in April 15, two Pakistanis - mother and son - were arrested with fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 4.7 million at the Kathmandu airport after landing here from Karachi.
