Former MLA Sarvesh Singh shot dead, violence erupts in Azamgarh




AZAMGARH (UP): Violence erupted in the district on Friday after former MLA and BSP leader Sarvesh Singh Seepu and another person was shot dead by unidentified assailants.

35-year-old Seepu was shot dead on Friday morning when he was returning from the police station in Chiku locality after pursuing a case, police said, adding Seepu and another person died on the spot.




He was a Samajwadi Party MLA from Sagari seat till 2012. He then joined BSP and had contested the last assembly elections on BSP ticket from Sadar seat here.

Following the incident, angry locals thronged the police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused. The locals also pelted stones on the police station.

Heavy police force has been rushed to the spot to control the situation, where a large number of people have gathered.
