Twelve killed by lightning in Odisha



Bhubaneswar: At least twelve people were killed and several injured in separate lightning incidents in different places of Odisha which was lashed by heavy rains together with thunder on Monday afternoon. Deceased were from Khordha, Cuttack and Sundargarh districts.  While 6 people died in Khurda district, five died in Cuttack district in lightning strikes.



As per the report two people of Kusamati village in Khurda district and four people at Kaipadar in the district died when lightning struck them this afternoon. Similarly, five deaths have been reported from Cuttack district. While two persons were killed at Badasamantarapur of Choudwar, one villager each at Kochila Nuagaon and Laxmanpur in the region died due to the natural disaster. Lighting also claimed a woman’s live in Jagatpur area on the outskirt of Cuttack city. In similar incidents, one person of Kochila Nuagan village, two persons of Badasamantarapur village and one person of Laxmanapur village under Choudwar police station limits in Cuttack district were also killed. One person killed in Jurei Kalopada village under Talasara police station limits in Sundargarh district.
