ISLAMABAD: Two buses collided and fell down in a 30 ft river leaving at least 15 people dead in Salgiran near Murree on Wednesday evening, Express News reported.

According to Rescue 1122‚ at least 25 injured passengers have so far been shifted from the wreckage to the PIMS and Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad, reported Radio Pakistan.

Additionally, 15 dead bodies have reached PIMs. Officials at the hospital said nine of the injured were in critical condition. They added that of the injured 20 were men and six were women.

Express News correspondent Qamarul Munawar reported from the crash site that at least five people were still trapped in one of the buses and that rescue workers were working to extract them.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed DCO and CPO Rawalpindi to personally supervise the rescue operation.

Earlier on Wednesday, there was also a bus accident on Club Road, in front of the Islamabad Club that left two people dead and at least 25 injured.

Three of the injured, including two children, are in critical condition. The wounded have been taken to Polyclinic and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

The bus driver lost control of the vehicle because the road was wet from the rain and drove the bus onto the opposite side of the road, destroying the road barrier in its path. The bus was travelling from Islamabad to Murree.
