CM Shahbaz’s son-in-law sent on judicial remand

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Ali Imran Yousaf was sent to jail on a 14-day-long judicial remand in connection with what is known as the bakery torture case, DawnNews reported.

Strict security measures were in place when the Defence-B police produced Yousaf in a court in Lahore on Thursday.

Yousaf was represented by Rana Asad, a brother of Punjab Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmad

Police had arrested Yousaf on Wednesday after adding Section 109 of the PPC in the FIR in the light of supplementary statements of the accused and witnesses in the bakery torture case.

Also on Wednesday, a judicial magistrate granted bail to seven Elite Police Force personnel and a man said to be a private bodyguard of Yousaf. The magistrate directed the accused to submit surety bonds of Rs40,000 each.

The policemen and the private guard had tortured the bakery’s employee Irfan after he refused to deliver a cake to a woman customer whom they had escorted to the shop. The woman was stated to be the daughter of the chief minister.
