Pakistan fully supports peace, stability in Afghanistan: PM


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday said Pakistan is making all out efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan, because “we are neighbours and our generations will have to live together”.

Talking to an 18-member Afghan Parliamentary delegation in Islamabad, Premier Raja said exchange of delegations between the two countries would enhance mutual trust, understanding and help in better relations.

Referring to the recent visit of High Peace Council Chairman Salahuddin Rabbani and Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul, he expressed pleasures that the relations are on the right direction.

A member of the Afghan delegation welcomed the proposal of Pakistan to convene ulema conference. He suggested that interactions of academia, media and other sections of the society should also be encouraged for better understanding between the two countries. The PM assured the Afghan delegation that he will look into the complaint regarding delay in clearance of Afghan goods at Karachi seaport and welcomed the proposal for interaction of all sections of the society of the two countries.



The premier expressed the hope that the delegation will have useful discussions during its present visit to Pakistan.

Senator Abdul Wali Raji, member of the Meshrano Jirga, speaking on the occasion, drew the attention of the PM to delay in clearance of goods at Karachi seaport, destined for Kabul.

Another member of the Afghan delegation welcomed the proposal of Pakistan to convene Ulema Conference between the two countries and suggested that interactions of academia, media and other sections of the society should also be encouraged for better understanding between the two countries.

Prime Minister Raja assured the Afghan delegation that he will look into the complaint regarding delay in clearance of Afghan goods at Karachi seaport and welcomed the proposal for interaction of all sections of the society of the two countries.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi, Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mir Israrullah Zehri, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr M Farooq Sattar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Amad Khan, Minister of State for Commerce, Senator Abbas Afridi, Senator Jahangir Badr, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
