One killed, 34 injured as bus falls into ditch

One person was killed and 34 others injured, 16 of them seriously, when a private bus fell into a roadside ditch near Kultali in South 24-Parganas district today, police said.

The bus was coming to Joynagar from Petkulchand when the incident occurred, police said, adding, the driver fled after the accident.

Locals rescued the passengers and later vandalised the bus, they said.
The injured were admitted to Jamtola block hospital, they said.
