Nepal is among seven nations that may lose their ability to legally trade tens of thousands of wildlife species after UN conservation delegates agreed Thursday to penalize them for lacking tough regulations or failing to report on their wildlife trade.

According to Associated Press (AP), Nepal, Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Paraguay, Rwanda, Solomon Islands and Syria were approved by consensus among the delegates and would take effect Oct. 1.


SC asks govt not to proceed with controversial TIA contract

The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued an interim order asking the government not to go ahead with its plan to hand over the management of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to upgrade and improve its condition to an Indian company .


After conducting a hearing on a writ filed against the controversial decision of the government regarding the TIA management handover, a majority of three member bench asked the government not to proceed with its plan to handover TIA management to Indian company IL and FS without announcing tender until the final verdict is made.

Nepal-Bangladesh trade talks kicks off

The fourth Nepal-Bangladesh secretary-level talks on trade relations kicked off here in the capital on Sunday.

The meeting is led by Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies Lalmani Joshi from Nepal while Bangladeshi Commerce Secretary Mohammad Gulam Hussein is leading from Bangladesh side.
