The Panun Kashmir today started the second phase of its public awareness campaign for Martyrs’ Day, observed every year by the Kashmiri Pandit community on September 14 to mark its protest against the killings of Pandits in the early 1990s.
The awareness campaign has been started simultaneously from New Delhi and Jammu. Ajay Chrungoo, chairman, Panun Kashmir, is organising the drive from New Delhi while Daya Krishen Kaul, vice-chairman, is leading the cadres from Jammu.
Addressing people in Delhi, Chrungoo said, “This day reminds us that the authorities have failed to protect the rights of Kashmiri Pandits. They have failed to implement the safeguards for the minorities in Kashmir as enshrined in the Constitution.”
