Three passengers of a car were killed and two others injured when the vehicle collided with a bus on the National Highway-17 at Kuttippuram in Malappuram district on Tuesday morning.
The dead were identified as Krishnan Kutty, his daughter Sumeera, and car driver Riyaz. They belonged to Atholi in Kozhikode district. Sumeera’s mother Patmavati and relative Subramanyan were admitted to hospital with injuries.
The family was heading for Guruvayoor when their vehicle crashed into a speeding bus heading towards Kozhikode near the bridge over Kuttippuram railway station at 8.10 a.m.
Sumeera and Riyas died on the spot. Krishnan Kutty died on the way to hospital. The accident led to a traffic block on the highway for sometime.
