The BCCI’s senior national selection committee has retained the Indian team for the third Test to be played against England at Kolkata from December 5 to 9, but it has put off the selection of the team for the fourth Test to be played at Nagpur from December 13 to 17 and the two Twenty20 matches to be played at Pune (Dec.20) and Mumbai (Dec.22). A BCCI press release stated that the teams for the fourth Test and the T20 International series will be picked later.
After the ten wicket defeat in the second Test that ended before lunch here on Monday, the BCCI had announced that the teams for the remaining two Test matches and the two Twenty20 matches will be selected today. It’s more or less obvious that the BCCI and the selection committee is unhappy with the way India performed at the Wankhede Stadium and has given a first signal that it will make changes should there not be a good showing in Kolkata.
The team for the third Test only: M.S. Dhoni (Captain), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Cheteshwar Pujara, R. Ashwin, Ashok Dinda, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay, Zaheer
