Pakistan turmoil hits bilateral talks


New Delhi:India-Pakistan foreign secretary-level dialogue that was expected to be held on June 29 in New Delhi has been finally scheduled for July 4 and 5.The changes have been made at the insistence of Pakistan which felt the two sides needed more time to discuss mutual issues.

Meanwhile, ahead of the talks, foreign minister SM Krishna said Pakistan, which is going through many upheavals, needed time to settle down.Indian foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai and his Pakistani counterpart Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani would hold discussions that have been structured into three segments – confidence building measures, Kashmir and people-to-people contact. It would be Jalil Abbas Jilani’s first visit to India after taking charge as foreign secretary.
