PESHAWAR: Three people, including a woman and a child, were killed and 31 others were injured in a bomb blast at a shrine on the outskirts of Peshawar on Thursday.

“An improvised explosive device (IED) was planted in a donkey cart which was parked outside Panj Pir shrine in Hazarkhwani area on the outskirts of Peshawar,” an official of Rescue 1122 service said. The donkey, whose front legs were tied with a rope, was blown to pieces.
No group has claimed responsibility of the blast. However, Khyber tribal region-based militant group Lashkar-e-Islam has been blamed for previous such attacks.
Police official Asif Iqbal said around 12 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast and the terrorists used pressure cooker to inflict the damage.
A spokesman for Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) said two people died on the spot while a girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
