Jakarta:A bombmaker was on Thursday sentenced to 20 years behind bars for his role in one of the darkest chapters in Indonesian history - the 2002 attacks in Bali that killed 202 innocent people, mostly foreigners.Umar Patek, 45, dubbed 'Demolition Man' for his ability to assemble bombs that could tear apart his victims, was found guilty of premeditated murder in helping to build the massive car bombs used in the attack on a nightclub popular with tourists from Australia and other countries.
A court also convicted him of conspiracy to commit terrorism in several other bloody incidents such as the bombings at six Jakarta churches on Christmas Eve in 2000, and of having information on a terrorist training camp in Aceh.
Patek was also found guilty of illegal possession of firearms and explosives, identification fraud and document fraud.
