Iran wants its ‘nuclear rights’ acknowledged

Iran said Tuesday there would be a swift solution to the nuclear dispute if its nuclear rights were acknowledged by a group of six world powers.

The five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany are to restart nuclear negotiations with Iran in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on February 26.

“There would be a swift solution if the 5+1 group came up at the next nuclear meeting with goodwill as well as suitable and balanced initiatives, such as acknowledgment of Iran’s nuclear rights,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.

“Just as we are committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, we also want to maintain our rights according to the same treaty.
