Quetta bombing: Operation should have been conducted against LeJ, says CJ

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that an operation cleanup should have been conducted against the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), while hearing the Quetta bombing case on Tuesday, reported Express News.

The chief justice said that it is incomprehensible how the incident took place in the presence of the Frontier Corps.

The chief justice maintained that the intelligence agencies have failed in providing security information. He further questioned why LeJ members have not been arrested yet.

The Supreme Court had taken a suo motu notice of the incident on Monday and had issued notices to Balochistan Advocate General, Muhammad Abdullah Khan Kakar and the  Attorney General of Pakistan.

On Sunday, more than 80 people were killed in a bomb blast at a busy market in Quetta, most of them belonging to the Hazara Shia community. Banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had claimed responsibility for the blast.
