MQM denies rift within party

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) rejected the reports aired on a private television channels about differences between the party leadership and Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad.

In a statement issued by the MQM’s Rabita (coordination) Committee on Tuesday the analysis given in a current affairs talk show hosted by Najam Sethi, a prominent political analyst and columnist, pertaining to the resignation of Governor Ibad Khan was termed as baseless, highly speculative and misleading.

The statement further said that certain elements were trying to create misconceptions in the minds of the MQM workers over its political differences with the PPP.

The Rabita Committee statement said that the MQM is a democratic political party in which all political decisions are taken collectively after discussions and that such analyses were part of a disinformation campaign against the party, having nothing to do with reality.

Moreover, the MQM statement also said that Dr Ishratul Ibad enjoyed full confidence of Altaf Hussain adding that as far as the resignation of Dr Ibad was concerned, it was a decision based upon the call of his own conscience.
