CPN-M denies involvement in 'slapgate'

CPN-Maoist has said that it was not involved in any way in attacking UCPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.

Talking to reporters following a party meeting in Buddhanagar Secretary Netra Bikram Chand termed the incident, which saw Padam Kunwar (25) slap the Maoist Chairman in public, as 'unfortunate'.

"Our party does not need to be involved in such actionss. Rumours that we were behind the attack are aimed at defaming our party, " added Chand. The chief of the party's Youth People's Volunteer Bureau said there was no grain of truth in reports that Kunwar was a member of the Bureau.

Nepal shouldering heavy brunt of climate change despite no wrongdoing: Minister Shakya

Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Keshab Man Shakya, has said that Nepal as a least developed country is bearing the heavy brunt of climate change despite its negligible contribution to greenhouse gases as well as low consumption of ODS.

Minister Shakya made this remark while addressing the 24th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer being held in Switzerland from November 12 to16 Friday morning. He highlighted the success of the Montreal Protocol as the first international treaty on environment protection to receive universal acceptance.
